These are the rules every article on this site is written by. They’re published so you know how far to trust what you read here.
1. Photos
Every photo is taken by me, on location. No stock images. Nothing reused from other websites.
Key photos carry the month they were taken, because shopfronts, queues and construction hoardings can look completely different a year later.
2. Prices and opening hours
Checked on the official website or the sign at the door before publishing — and every article says which date that was.
They will still go out of date. If you find something that no longer matches reality, please tell me.
3. If I haven’t verified it, I say so
Where I couldn’t confirm something, the article says I couldn’t confirm it.
I don’t fill the gap with an estimate. A made-up number that looks researched is worse than no number at all.
4. If I haven’t been there, I say so
I write about places I’ve actually been. Where I haven’t, the article says so.
I don’t write round-ups assembled from other people’s articles.
5. I write the bad parts too
If I don’t think somewhere is worth your time, I write that. Too expensive, too crowded to enjoy, nothing like the photos — all of it goes in.
An article that recommends everything has recommended nothing.
6. Affiliate links
Some links on this site earn me a commission.
Whether a commission exists never changes what I recommend. If the option that pays me nothing is the better one, that’s the one I’ll tell you to take. Full details are on the affiliate disclosure page.
7. Corrections
If you find a mistake, tell me. I’ll check it, fix it, and put the correction date on the article.
I don’t quietly edit things and pretend they were never wrong.
